Amy Rodriguez-Sanders is a psychotherapist based in Pasadena, California offering therapy services to individuals, couples, and families.

About Me:

As a child of two immigrants, I understand the complex ways that identity can intersect with mental health. I recognize the stigma that can be placed on those seeking better mental wellness and the bravery it takes to overcome that stigma. Starting on the path to therapy can be the first step toward better mental health and self-love.

I have worked in a variety of fields including entertainment and education and all of those experiences have informed my work as a therapist.  More specifically, my interest in working with LGBTQIA+ youth led me into a career of psychotherapy. Work within that community and communities of marginalized ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic groups drives a lot of my commitment to this field. I am passionate about helping others by affirming their identities and helping them navigate the world and their emotions. My approach to therapy involves teaching everyday skills for managing difficult thoughts and emotions. My ultimate goal in therapy, however, is to go beyond just symptom management and explore the history, early childhood experiences, attachment styles, and relational patterns of each person to help them gain a better understanding of themselves. By truly understanding ourselves and our motivations, we can find peace and a healthier, happier life.

I earned my Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at University of Southern California, and trained as a therapist at Pelican Cove Counseling Centers. I currently work at Mindful Pasadena Counseling.
